Volunteer Activities:

  • Trail Maintenance & Construction
  • Build Fence Enclosures
  • Island Maintenance (painting, light construction, brush clearance)
  • Non-native Plant Removal
  • Nurture the Natives (working at island’s nursery to collect/process plant seeds, transplanting seeds, light construction, assembling equipment, grounds maintenance)
  • Fence Removal (island-style)


  • Onsite two canvas-sided tents on raised decks with bunkbeds OR
  • Bring your own tent
  • Note: There is a bathroom with flush toilets, two hot showers, BBQ grill, coolers and ice, 2-burner stove


  • The Conservancy will take us from/to the boat dock at Avalon
  • Onsite, we will have a volunteer coordinator that can take us into town for dinner one night


  • All meals will be at our expense
  • Upon arrival to Catalina, our driver will take us to the local grocery store to pick-up food for the duration of stay
  • One night, our driver will take us into town and we can eat at a restaurant for a group dinner

Arrival/Departure Suggestions:

  • 11 miles from Long Beach Airport (LGB); 21 miles from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)


  • From West Los Angeles office: 30 miles
  • From Downtown Los Angeles office: 25 miles
  • From Woodland Hills office: 45 miles

Catalina Express (Boat):

  • Depart Long Beach to Avalon (takes 1 hour)

Estimated Costs:

  • Meals/incidentals: $200 (includes 3 meals per day, snacks, and one dinner out)
  • Catalina Express: $75 roundtrip
  • Flight: TBD – approx. $150 from Bay Area (into LGB), approx. $300 from Dallas (into LAX), approx. $300-375 from Chicago
  • Total: $900-$1,100

Estimated Reimbursements for Armanino Staff Members:

  • Up to $850

Additional Notes:

  • Camp is located in the center of the island, so there will be no internet service, and cell phone service is not guaranteed!
  • A packing list will be provided prior to the trip
